Here is the response that I received from KFUO after I emailed them in support of bringing Issues Etc. back.
Pastor Dietrich, Thank you for writing. We are instructed to disseminate this information: For programmatic and business reasons, the decision was made this week to discontinue the “Issues Etc.” program on KFUO-AM. We look forward to bringing you new programming in this time slot in the near future.
You may still download past “Issues Etc.” programs at kfuo.org. Chuck Rathert***
This response, as many of you might have received or guessed, is a standard response given to all that are inquiring to KFUO about the cancellation of Issues Etc. At the very least this is a poor, generic, and weak defense and explanation of what has taken place.
According to much of what I have heard, read, and seen...there is a problem with this statement. First of all this program was one of the most popular on KFUO. Secondly, as being one of the most popular, it was one of the most well funded and donated to program. So what is the problem. If it really is a mater of programming...where is KFUO going? How can an LCMS owned and operated radio station have a programming problem with a very LUTHERAN program that was not only popular but had distinguised guests, a large global following, great funding, and was the reason that many became Lutheran and still others, by God's grace, given faith in Christ Jesus. This show was most definately Christ Centered and Cross Focused! THAT IS TRUE LUTHERANISM! So if there is a "programming" issue than it is really The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod that has an issue. I just pray and hope that this is some kind of mistake. All I know is that we have really not been given a real reason for the cancellation and as of the last time I spoke with a person very close to the situation... Rev. Wilken was never given an explanation. All I can say is Thank God for Issues Etc, Rev. Todd Wilken, and Mr. Jeff Schwarz. Rev. Wilken is truly showing us faith and hope in Christ when he wrote "Everyone, go to church. Eat and drink the body and blood of Jesus. Celebrate His death for us. Await His resurrection. It's Holy Week - the best week of the year."
Well said Rev. Wilken. Let us rejoice this most Holy Week at the death and ressurection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In the cross of Christ I glory...because...Jesus is Risen. He is risen indeed!
