"Built on the Rock the Church shall stand Even when steeples are falling. Crumbled have spires in ev-'ry land; Bells still are chiming and calling, Calling the young and old to rest, But above all the souls distressed, Longing for rest everlasting." (LSB 645)

Easter Bells

This Sunday... Easter Sunday... most Church buildings will be empty or have very few within its walls due to social distancing caused by Covid-19.

In an effort to remind the world and bring joy to believers we are encouraging Christian congregations that have bells to ring them at 10 a.m. local time (for each time zone) for at least 5 minutes (more if you like). What a wonderful way to remind believers and unbelievers that the Church still stands and her bells still call the old and young and old to their Sabbath rest but above all the souls distressed.

Easter will still happen for Christ died and rose again. The tomb is empty! While we may not get to worship in our church buildings...this Easter the bells will ring, we will still gather, we will still joyfully celebrate our Lord's resurrection, and we shall still worship with angels, archangels, and the whole company of heaven.

So ring those bells. Have joy. Celebrate. The Lord is Risen! He is Risen indeed. Alleluia!
